The world

overwhelmed by individual data

The model of preventionConsumer optimizationWellness products, personal data, supplements, and biotech define prevention.
Where trust livesTrust moves to platformsPeople rely on brands, influencers, and personal AI for health guidance.
Control of body dataIndividual controlPeople decide who can use their data and may trade or license it.
Defining characteristics
1. abundance of data available for people that can afford access to the consumer products\ 2. creates disparity by access to the consumer products and therefore the Health data 3. decentralized control over how data used. not clear on who has data and who controls. in theory individuals can make more decisions with the info, but also government can control access based on the data and corporations can buy populations of people based on data
Central theme
robust amounts of individualized data availability and lack of clarity on public use and where disparity headed
The new normal
access to our personal data to make decisions about our health. level of privacy and regulation that might protect it that doesn't exist today
Broken assumption
evidence based concept is not the trusted source. the idea of having this much data and the opportunity to make population heath decisions but it isn't clear where public health would sit the table. are we becoming more individualized to make care decisions and not population health.?
because consumer data has developed in this direction, individual data decisions become increasingly common for those that have access to the technology. this creates more disparities both on individuals that are overwhelmed with information or not sure how to use and for those without access by choice or financial limitations.
